FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated air conditioned compressor for LTV worth Rs1 million involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs7,65,800.
Sources told Customs Today that following information received through Director Rabab Sikander, the intelligence team comprising Deputy Director Riaz Hussain, Superintendent Zahid Raza Bukhari, Senior Intelligence Officer, Muhammad Tahir and Muhammad Ramzan, Intelligence Officer Muhammad Saleem and Muhammad Saddique participated in raid.
The above said team intercepted a trailer bearing registration no: P-2729 loaded with air conditioned compressors for LTV. As the information was authentic and on spot, there was no proper arrangement for physical examination and loading un loading of container. Therefore, the trailer along with loaded container was brought to the office for thorough examination of loaded goods.
Container was de-sealed in the presence of driver, Zafar Iqbal and others witnesses and its examination was carried out which led to recovery of goods.
The official asked the driver namely Mehmood Nasir son of Muhammad Aslam and to produce documents showing legal import and purchased of the recovers items but he failed to do the same.
Therefore, the customs officials seized the goods under the Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(1) 89 and 178 of Customs Act, 1969. The seizure report has been sent to adjudication for further legal action.
