FAISALABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated smuggled goods worth Rs 5.2 million during the month of November 2018.
According to the details, the intelligence team following the instructions of Deputy Director Rana Irfan Shouqat conducted various raids to foil smuggling attempts in the region. However, five cases of smuggling were registered against suspects during the above-said period.
Customs Intelligence team seized a huge quantity of shelled almonds 1452 kilograms smuggled by Muhammad Yaqoob and old and used auto parts smuggled by Muhammad Waseem, a resident of Lahore.
It is pertinent to mention here that FIU Khushab impounded Hino truck 6 wheeler bearing registration no: FD3HDA model 1992 worth Rs5,000,000 involving duty and taxes Rs2,400,000 and accused person nominated is Abdul Qadeer, a resident of Sargodha city.
The customs seized these goods under Section 156(1)89 and 90 ibid read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act, 1969, after the owners failed to produce any document showing the legal import of the items. However, seizure reports have been submitted to the Adjudication department for further legal actions.
