FAISALABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations seized 924 non duty paid mobile phones worth Rs7 million during raid on Friday.
According to sources, on the directions of Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigations Shaukat Ali an operation was launched against smugglers after receiving information that mobile phone smuggling was increasing day by day.
Deputy Director Customs Intelligence Rana Irfan Shouqat also received information that huge quantity of foreign origin mobile phones would be smuggled from Peshawar to Faisalabad through car. Meanwhile, the staff of the Customs Intelligence intercepted a Toyota Corolla car near Sargodha Road Faisalabad.
During the search of the vehicle the staff recovered 924 non duty paid mobile phones which were tactfully hidden in the vehicle body. Intelligence team arrested suspect who was later identified as Hamza Khan and asked to show document against these mobiles. But he remained failed to do so. The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation registered a case against the owner of the mobiles and started investigations.
