FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) conducted various operations against smugglers and impounded goods worth Rs08.3million during third week of March 2017.
Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan and his team, comprising Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspectors Khalid Ashraf Noor, Ali Zahid and Sepoys Liaquat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah, seized goods and vehicles under the Customs Act-1969.
The ASO impounded five vehicled under Section U/S-157) worth Rs04.2 being used for smuggling and a non-duty paid vehicle worth Rs01million under Section (U/S 16 NDP), 1030 kg of foreign origin cloths valued Rs540750, Indian tea ( 2200-kg), worth Rs577500 and other miscellaneous (5422-kg) items valued at Rs01.9million. All these items were brought into the country without payment of custom duty and taxes.
Faisalabad ASO seized these items on the violation of Import and Export Control Act -1950 punishable under Section 156(1) 89(i) and 90 of the Customs Act-1969 and forwarded the cases to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
The officials said that achievement has been made due to dedicated efforts by Collector Muhammad Sadiq and other subordinate officers. The FBR has appreciated the performance of the ASO Faisalabad and desired to continue efforts to surpass the annual target for fiscal year 2016-17.
