FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad has confiscated the imported tins of Red Bull and tyres being smuggled from Peshawar into Faisalabad worth Rs900000 involving customs duties and taxes of Rs700000 during the execution of an operation.
Sources told Customs Today that Assistant Collector Shah Samad Hamadani forwarded a tip-off to the Anti-Smuggling Organization about the smuggling of energy drinks and tyres. After receiving the secret information, Assistant Collector immediately constituted a raiding team comprising Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi, Inspectors Farhan Frank, Shah Newaz, Sepoys Afzaal Hussain, Zulifiqar Ali Wahla and Zulifiqar Ali Awan.
The ASO team raided Jhang Road Faisalabad under the supervision of Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi and intercepted a suspicious vehicle loaded with smuggling items.
During a thorough checking of the vehicle, the ASO team impounded 4,800 tin-packs of foreign origin Red Bulls and 30 contraband tyres of China made.
The team asked owner of Khalid Shaheen Cargo Service, 37-Truckstand, Faisalabad, about the documentary proof of the legal possession of the import. He only provided the team with Bilty No: 627 dated 28-02-2018 and Bilty No: 633 dated 1-03-2018. Other than the said proofs, he could not produce anything legal, so the ASO team seized the Red Bull energy drinks and tyres and registered a case against the accused.
