FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) impounded a non-duty paid Toyota fork lifter. The market value of the said which is Rs2.0 million involving duty of Rs3,54,969.
According to details, Collector Customs Chaudhary Zulfiqar Ali received credible information about movement of a non-duty paid fork lifter in the city. He immediately constituted a raiding party comprising Superintendent Saeed Joiya, Inspector Khalid Ashraf Noor, Mehmood Dogar, Ali Zahid, Muhammad Khalid, Muhammad Afzaal, Muhammad Ashraf, Zulifqar Ali Awan, Muhammad Naeem and Muhammad Yasin and started searching vehicles at different areas in the city.
While searching, the ASO team intercepted a Toyota fork lifter bearing registration No: 2FD35-10237 near Jail Road, Faisalabad. The ASO team asked the driver to provide legal documents regarding legal import and possession of fork lifter. The driver, who was later identified as Muhammad Irfan Ahmad son of Inayat Ali a resident of Nishatabad, Faisalabad, remained fail to provide any required document to the ASO team.
After his failure, the ASO team impounded the non-duty paid fork lifter and registered a case against the accused one.
Sources said that the case has been forwarded to the customs adjudication for further proceeding.
