FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad has seized the contraband goods worth Rs13million during June.
Model Custom Collectorate (MCC) Collector Muhammad Sadiq told Customs Today that smuggling cases are declining day by day due to strict monitoring and timely actions by the ASO teams. He also appreciated the performance of the ASO as it has foiled a number of smuggling bids in the region.
He said the impounded items include non-duty-paid vehicles, foreign origin tea, and other miscellaneous goods. The Faisalabad ASO registered more than 10 seizures during the anti-smuggling activities in June. He further said the ASO Faisalabad covers Jhang, Mianwali, Sara-e-Muhajir, Sargodha and Faisalabad. He added that he will try his best to maintain this pace of work to achieve the yearly revenue target under all heads.
The non-duty-paid three vehicles were impounded under section (U/S 157) worth Rs03.4million and five vehicles, being used for transportation of smuggled items, are worth Rs02.6million. The goods weighed1360-kg valued Rs400000 and other miscellaneous items weighed 53116-kg worth Rs06million were confiscated during said period.
He said the FBR strictly directed all the customs collectorates to adopt zero tolerance policy against those found involved in smuggling. He said after receiving the instructions customs collectorates sped up their efforts to curb the smuggling activities.
