ISLAMABAD: Excise and Taxation department Rawalpindi received around 20,000 applications for correction in property tax challans.
According to excise department sources the department sent property tax challans to the citizens for the current Fiscal Year. After receiving challans forms majority of property tax payers approached Excise authorities for correction of challans forms.
Sources said that tax payers complained that extra taxes were applied on them under the head of property tax. They said that these taxes were not included in previous year challan forms.
Many complaints were received from widows, pensioners and government employees as well.
Sources said that the excise department started to revise the challans forms. Sources said that the excise collects Rs 750 million of property tax during the month of October as compare with Rs 150 million which were collected during the same period of previous Fiscal Year.
