LAHORE: Protest of excise officials against filing of cases has entered 3rd week.
The excise officials across the province stopped working in the wake of cases registered against inspectors. On Saturday, all departmental staff in Lahore held a two-hour pen-down strike to show solidarity with their colleagues.
The cases were registered against the excise inspectors for allegedly sending inflated property tax notices to citizens.
Excise Union President Fiaz Malik told Customs Today, “Our protest will continue until the government withdraws cases against colleagues from across the province.”
The officials shouted anti-government slogans and pressed the department to withdraw the cases.
The Punjab Excise Department has registered cases against 50 inspectors across the province.
