WARSAW: More than 33 percent of employers in Poland plan on hiring more staff this year while only five percent plan on downsizing, according to a new report for recruiter Randstad.
Meanwhile, 24 percent of employers plan to increase wages over the next six months, according to the survey of 1,000 employers conducted from 10 April to 9 May.
Grzegorz Baczewski, an expert from the Lewiatan Employers’ Confederation, said that employers are reluctant to pay more because of a minimum wage hike, but will be forced to do so because of a labour shortage.
Baczewski said raises of more than five percent can be expected in the hi-tech, manufacturing, logistics and construction sectors.
