PESHAWAR: Collectorate of Customs committed to curb smuggling and loss of revenue due to malpractices, said by Collector Mohammad Saeed Jadoon.
Talking to customs officials at Customs House, Collector Saeed said that effective steps should be taken to communicate with genuine importers in order to remove the hurdles being faced by them.
The collector said that Pakistan Afghanistan Transit Trade route started to generate awesome revenue for the customs exchequer due to extended trade through Afghanistan.
The collector added that extra steps have been taken to digitalize the customs procedures by Federal Board of Revenue which needed to be implemented boldly at every crossing point.
The collector directed customs officials to curb corruption by every mean in order to enhance the tax circle to generate extra revenue. The collector was informed about different steps being implemented to curb smuggling in order to facilitate genuine traders.
Earlier, the collector said that new system has been installed at Air Freight Unit of Bacha Khan International Airport due to which the revenue from BIAP Peshawar has been increased.
The revenue collection from Torkham, Hazara and Kohat Customs Station had also been increased due to implementation of new FBR rules formulated to increase the revenue collection.
On the other hand, customs clearing agents at Torkham Customs Station have protested against the customs authorities for facing difficulties in Web Base One Customs (WeBOC) and FBR promised to eliminate the hurdles being faced by customs clearing agents.
