TAIPEI: Leaders at East Jordan Public Schools are trying to get people to the polls next Tuesday for a vote on a $10.84 million bond.
Part of the bond will go toward fixing up the buildings, improving security, updating locker rooms and building a walking track in the high school’s gym.
It would also update the school’s technology and the school buses over the next 15 years.
“The more dollars we have to take to fix things in our district, the less dollars we have for the classrooms,” said Matt Stevenson, the school’s superintendent. “We want to update things and get them efficient so every dollar we can put in the classroom is staying in the classroom.”
The proposed 2.46 mill bond would replace and actually be a decrease from the current millage on the books.
