SIALKOT: Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue Sialkot Abdul Rehman Dogar has vowed to resolve all the prolonged perturbing problems of Sialkot exporters regarding the early clearance of all the old and new cases of Income Tax Refund claims on priority.
He stated this while addressing an important meeting of Sialkot business community held at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here Tuesday.
The chief commissioner added that the hectic efforts were being made to resolve the Sialkot business community issues regarding inordinate delay in the clearance of the Income Tax refund Claims, Sales Tax Post Refund Audit, Withholding Tax Audit, unnecessary visits of the officials of the Regional Tax Office (RTO) to the different factories in Sialkot, fixed tax, Income Support Levy (ISL) and removal of the unnecessary documentation in this regard.
The chief commissioner formulated a special committee comprising the officials of Regional Tax Office (RTO) Sialkot, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and Sialkot Tax Bar Association (STBA), saying that the Committee will work mutual after detailed discussion to find out the flaws if any and hurdles in the way to the early clearance of Income Tax Refund Claims, besides, compiling accurate data of the pending cases and paid cases in this regard.
During the meeting, the senior Income Tax officials told the meeting that as many as 700 old cases of Income Tax Refund claims had already been processed and their Refund Payment Orders (RPOs) were ready for payment, saying that 949 such new cases have also been processed.
They said that Sales Tax Post Refund Audit was a legal requirement which could never be ignored, asking the Sialkot exporters to ensure their Income Support Levi (ISL) tax till December 31.
Rehman Dogar assured the Sialkot business community about the early solution to their tax-related problems, saying that the special efforts were being made to resolve their issued by taking the Sialkot business community into the confidence.
The chief commissioner revealed that Sialkot businessmen have been playing pivotal role in strengthening the national economy. He added that all the hurdles would be removed by taking local traders into confidence, besides, removing their tax-related issues and clearing their prolonged pending refund claims as well.
He also sought active cooperation of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) in bringing maximum traders under the tax net, saying that liaison committee would also be activated further for bridging the communication gap between FBR and SCCI to resolve the issues amicably with mutual understanding, in this regard.
