Dubai introduces training package for customs dogs’ handlers

DUBAI: Dubai Customs Training Centre launches an integrated training package for Customs Dogs Unit Handlers. The package is designed to build Customs Dogs Unit Handler’s capacities and enable them to understand dogs’ behaviour and how to deal with them in order to detect drugs and explosives by deploying cutting-edge training technologies. Moreover, the development of such package comes as a part of Dubai Customs’ strategy to secure Dubai borders against any prohibited items and materials; to assist in ensuring and maintaining a safe community and to support legitimate trade on the international level.

With three modules included: Trainee’s Package; Trainer’s Package and Primary and Final Exams, such package is intended to ensure that customs dogs’ handlers carry out their job duties with high proficiency.

“Through this integrated package, the Center seeks to build the Dubai Customs’ personnel capabilities, leverage customs practices and strengthen the sense of security” explained Ms Feryal Tawakul, Director of Customs Training Centre.
