KARACHI: Directorate-General Customs Valuation Director Shafique Ahmed Latki has revised the customs values of ginger and garlic under Section 25-A of the Customs Act 1969, vide Valuation Ruling No.1390/2019.
As per details, customs values of ginger and garlic were determined earlier vide Valuation Ruling No.1339/2018. The analysis of import shows viz-a-viz declared values of subject goods upward trend in international prices.
All Pakistan Fresh Ginger & Garlic Importers & whole Sellers Association as well as number of importers filed representations for revision of the ruling to bring the values in line with prevailing prices in the international market.
Keeping in view, Directorate General initiated an exercise for re-determination of the Customs Values of the fresh/dry ginger and garlic in terms of section 25-A of the Customs act 1969.
Meeting was held with stakeholders on 11th September and they were requested to submit the invoices of imports during the last three months showing factual value, websites, names and email addresses of known foreign manufacturers of the items in question through which actual value could be ascertained.
The customs values of ginger and garlic were determined vide Valuation Ruling No.1299/2018 and 1244/2018. Representations were received from importers and requested to re-determine customs values of goods in line with current values available in the international market.
