ISLAMABAD: Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation Federal Board of Revenue, Rawalpindi seized miscellaneous smuggled goods worth Rs 89.499 million during the month of February 2017.
Sources told Customs Today that various teams of Customs Intelligence and Investigations showed outstanding performance during the same period of the last year. Director General Customs Intelligence Shaukat Ali already lauded the performance of his department and hoped that all other Collectorates of the country will also try to follow the same.
Director General Shaukat Ali also announced rewards for the officers and staff of the Rawalpindi directorate. Anti-smuggling staff of Customs Intelligence in various operations against illegal trade and smugglers has seized narcotics, miscellaneous smuggled and non duty paid goods including non-duty paid vehicles and foreign origin cloth, black tea, electronics, auto spare parts, carpets, blankets, carpets, cigarettes, toiletries and tyers and tubes.
While during the same month of last financial year 2015-16, Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigations had seized miscellaneous smuggled goods worth Rs28.685 million.
