ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Finance has not released development funds to the Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) for the last nine months, which has brought its development schemes to a halt, an official of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development told APP.
He said that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has collected over Rs162 billion in taxes from over half-a-million registered industrial workers, but the finance ministry is not releasing funds for new and ongoing projects.
The construction of labour complex at Zone-V, near Islamabad Expressway, has stopped due to shortage of funds, which was a mega project for the registered workers of twin cities – Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The official revealed that other development projects in the Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have also stopped due to lack of funds.
