FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Saima Ayaz has issued a show cause notice to accused person who is allegedly involved in smuggling of black tea through a vehicle which was also impounded by the customs.
According to the details, during checking of the vehicle, Customs Intelligence and Investigation team intercepted a Shahzore vehicle and recovered 106 bags of black tea.
The team asked the owners of the goods and vehicle who introduced themselves as Hameed Ahmed to show documents regarding legal import of the black tea but they could not produce the same.
Therefore, the officials impounded the smuggled vehicle and smuggled tea under customs laws and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
Now, Deputy Collector Saima Ayaz issued notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10 A 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act 1969 punishable under Section 156 (1) 89 of the Custom Act 1969 and issued them to show cause as to why the said items should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of the law.
However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing. The seizing agency has also been directed to file reply in the respective case.
Hearing date of in this case has been fixed, while the respondent may appear in person or through his accredited representative before the undersigned at his office.
The adjudication authority also directed Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Rana Irfan Shouqat to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.
