ISLAMABAD: A violent mob of labourers attacked Deputy Collector Gilgit-Baltistan Asfandyar at NLC Sost Dry Port after his orders against illegal loading of imported goods.
Sources of Sost Dry Port told Customs Today, that through CCTV it was observed that two labours who were later identified as Sadaqat and Sher Abbas of M/s Amafhh Traders which is owned by Javed Hussain attached the deputy collector. Sources said that both persons were illegally loading consignment of M/s Shah Enterprises into the truck which was already loaded with cleared consignment of M/s Amafhh. Sources added that the matter was immediately reported to Deputy Collector Asfandyar who ordered to stop the loading immediately.
The staff on duty also called other officials who reached at the site where deputy collector ordered Javed Hussain owner of M/s Amafhh to unload the consignment to check the illegally loaded stores while Javed Hussain refused to unload the consignments.
After refusal Javed Hussain along with Haji Ismail chanted slogans against customs staff and port management. Sources told that the mob comprises 20 to 25 individuals which were led by Sadaqat Hussain, Ehsan Ali, Ejaz, Hajat, Ishaq and Askari Mota.
Sources told that all the above mentioned persons attacked customs office, the deputy collector locked the office from inside and escape from the window, when the DC was moving towards his vehicle, he was again physically assaulted and slapped by Ramzan Kasai after that Ishaq and Shahzad used abused language and chanted slogans against port staff.
Local police and other customs staff after registering separate cases against accused persons started further investigations.
