ISLAMABAD: Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication, Khansa Mehmood Chudhary adjudicated 191 cases involving Rs53.36 million of duty and taxes during four months.
Deputy Collector Adjudication, Khansa Mehmood Chaudhary has told Customs Today that during last four months from January to April 2018, total of 191 cases including non-duty paid vehicles, smuggled cloths, cosmetics, food items, tea, auto parts, electronics and smuggled cellphones thoroughly adjudicated and decided on merit.
She added that 60 cases were decided during January 2018, in which 41 cases were decided in favor of customs department while the rest went against the department. Meanwhile the Deputy Collector office heard 45 cases in February 2018 regarding miscellaneous smuggled items and adjudicated on merit.
Furthermore, the deputy collector office adjudicated 42 cases during March 2018 and 49 cases during April 2018. She added that Rs53.36 million of duty and taxes were involved collectively in 191 cases which were settled during this time period and issued Orders In Original (ONOs) in this regard.
It is also important to mention here that Adjudication is one of the most important Collectorates to generate revenue and ensure equitable and judicious treatment to the taxpayers in deciding cases.
