What defines a great work-life balance for expats? This is a question the world’s largest network for expats “InterNations” has set out to explore. InterNations has in this regard discovered that great work-life balance is both defined by the number of hours spend at work and the quality of hours spend outside work.
Considering these factors, InterNations has recently rated Denmark as having the world’s best work-life balance for expats. A conclusion that is based on interviews with more than 13.000 expats living in 188 regions. Looking at the expats living in Denmark, 76 percent were satisfied with their work-life balance, while 82 percent of the respondent were happy with their working hours.
When its comes to the quality of hours spend outside work, citizens in Denmark are characterized by an urge for self-fulfillment. At least that was the conclusion made by National Geographic when the magazine set out to explore why Denmark is often rated the happiest country in the world
In this regard, National Geographic discovered that 90 percent of Danes belong to an association, such as a sailing club, while over 40 percent volunteer for civic groups.
