ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said that it was the mutual desire of leaders of both Pakistan and the US to take bilateral relations to a new high and said that all possible endeavours be made to contribute to this end.
Ambassador of Pakistan to USA, Jalil Abbas Jilani, paid a courtesy call on Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar here on Thursday morning.
Ambassador Jilani apprised the minister about the positive sentiment about and appreciation for Pakistan’s economic performance in the last three years vis-à-vis multilateral institutions like the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund as well as US financial institutions. He said the economic turnaround achieved by Pakistan under the present government was viewed with admiration in the US.
Ambassador Jilani mentioned that there was keen interest amongst the reputed think tanks and academic institutions in the US, including the United States Institute of Peace and John Hopkins University, which have expressed their interest in inviting the Finance Minister for an deliver an address to showcase Pakistan’s economic achievements on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank/IMF in Washington DC later this year. The finance minister desired that his interaction with US think tanks be arranged on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank/IMF.
