KARACHI: The Directorate General of Customs Valuation has revised Customs value of lawn tennis balls through Valuation Ruling No 1046/2017 under Section 25A of the Customs Act, 1969.
According to details, the directorate general has earlier circulated reference customs values of Lawn Tennis Balls Vide Valuation Data Base Letter No.81/2016, dated 18-11-2016.
Some importers approached the directorate general and requested to revisit the values notified in the VDB and issue valuation Ruling for uniform applicability. Therefore, the directorate general initiated an exercise for determination of Customs values for the subject goods.
Stakeholders’ participation in determination of Customs values: Meeting with stakeholders was held on 14-02-2017. The stakeholders were requested to furnish the following documents before or during the course of above said meeting, Invoices of imports during last three months showing factual value, Websites, names and E-mail addresses of known foreign manufacturers of the item in question through which the actual current value can be ascertained, copies of Contracts made/LCs opened during the last three months showing the value of item in question and copies of sales tax invoices issued during last four months showing the difference in price (excluding duty and taxes) to substantiate that the benefit of difference in price is passed on to the local buyers.
During the meeting the stakeholders, contended that the subject goods were being imported in three different categories i.e. Loose/Poly bag/Can packing (Tin/Plastic/Glass) and the values eeded to be determined in accordance with that. They also agitated that the circulated customs es vide VDB.No.81/2016, were on higher side as compared with values in the international t and requested for their downward revision accordingly.
