LAHORE: Customs Intelligence and Investigation teams has seized over Rs 54.26 million non-customs paid foreign origin vehicles during four month i.e. from November to February 2016-17.
Official data revealed that the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized fifteen vehicles from various place in and around the city of Lahore including Allama Iqbal Town, Model Town, Defence, Ravi Road, Gulberg, Ferozepur Road and other places.
As per details, the Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized over 15 cars during the period under review while the cars which were seized included used Honda Civic car, model 2005, used Mercedes 2005, used mark-X model 2012, used BMW model 2005, used Toyota Land Cruiser model 1992, Toyota Mark–X model 2006, non duty paid (NDP) Toyota Land model 2012, used Honda Accord car 2002, NDP used dumper truck 10 wheeler 1995-16, NDP used Toyota Premier car model 2010, used Toyota Hilux Surf, model 2002used Mark-X car 2005, Toyota Land Cruiser 2011, Toyota Mark-Car 2006 and used dumper truck 2012.
Customs I&I official sources said that the seized cars were confiscated on the information of then Director Zeba Hai Azhar while the operations were supervised by deputy director and superintendents of the directorate.
It was added that the seized car were taken into custody and were to be auction in order to get revenue which would be added to the national exchequer.
The auctions would be held to sale the vehicles as per the prizes determined by the customs top authorities.
