KARACHI: The Pakistan Customs has recovered huge quantity of heroin from the possession of a passenger after a raid executed on a bus at Mochko.
In a drive launched against the menace of narcotics transportation/smuggling, the staff of the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Model Customs Collectorate of Preventive, posted at Custom-point as RCD Highway, seized 11 kg of contraband narcotics (heroin) valued Rs 110 million in the international market. The action was taken after a tip-off received.
The said heroin was recovered from a passenger named Muhammad Naeem S/o Abdurehman travelling in a passenger bus Al-Yousaf Coach with registration No.BSB-353 en-route from Quetta to Karachi.
The contraband item was recovered from 11 polyethylene bags, each containing one kilogram heroin, from the luggage of the said passenger.
Accused Muhammad Naeem, Driver Muhammad Usman and Conductor Salal Ahmed have been arrested and one more absconding accused was also identified during investigation.
It was informed that some passengers, carrying contraband heroin, would get on the bus running from Quetta to Karachi. It was further informed that the accused passengers would get off the bus prior to custom-point and use other transport to enter Karachi.
Efforts are on to arrest other members of the group involved in the sinister offence. An FIR No: ASO-21/2017 has been lodged in the court of law. Three accused have been arrested and further investigation is underway.
