TORKHAM: The Customs staff at Torkham Customs Station on Tuesday has seized 29,900 US dollars from an Afghan national in the departure scanning hall at Torkham border.
The Collector Customs Gul Rahman has lauded the activities of Customs Station Torkham in November which had led the Customs House Peshawar to earn millions of extra revenue by intercepting alien currency to the market.
According to sources in MCC Peshawar the currency was hidden in the secret parts of accused personal luggage. The accused has been taken into custody subsequently.
The Customs Station at Torkham have foiled two attempts in two days which have led to recover a revenue of millions from smugglers.
According to sources the Collector Customs has said that unofficial transfer of money causing a loss of millions to the exchquer of Peshawar Customs and Customs jurisdiction have been pretty smart to eliminate the risk of unofficial transfer of money for which special directions have been delivered to Customs staff throughout Khyber Pakthunkhwa province.
The recent recovered currency is equivalent to Rs31,50,000(approx) while the accused name is Zar Khan S/O Shamsul Haq have been pushed for further investigation.
It’s prior to mention that currency from Afghanistan is transferred to Pakistan in order to save the marginal loss in the sell and purchase of imports and exports.
