KARACHI: Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) has hands over a huge quantity of narcotics to the Pakistan Customs authorities.
According to details, Collector Customs Preventive Dr Iftekhar Ahmed visited the PMSA Headquarters where he was briefed on the recovery of narcotics worth millions of rupees and arrest of the suspects by the agency.
The officers of the PSMA informed him that an intelligence-based counter narcotics operation was carried out in open sea where the PMSA officials deployed their ships and fast response boats in western maritime region.
A PMSA ship intercepted the suspected boat in open sea and recovered nearly 180 kilogram high quality white crystal heroin from it. The international market value of narcotics is Rs 1,800 million. At least 14 smugglers were also apprehended in the operation.
Later, the recovered narcotics and apprehended smugglers were handed over to Pakistan Customs team headed by Collector Customs Preventive Dr Iftekhar Ahmed. After receiving the narcotics and apprehending the smugglers, Pakistan Customs Preventive has started investigations.
