KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive, Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) will start investigation against the suspects of recovered liquor worth millions of rupees being smuggled through sea route.
According to the details, Collector Pakistan Customs Preventive Dr Fareed Iqbal Qureshi along with Deputy Collector Customs Preventive, Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) Headquarters Faisal Khan visited the Headquarters of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) where the officers of the PSMA briefed over the apprehended huge quantity of liquor worth millions of rupees as well as the busted seven culprits.
The officers of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) informed that on the tip-off by higher authorities, an intelligence based counter narcotics operation was carried in open sea. Based on ashore and afloat intelligence elements of Pakistan Maritime Security Agency, PMSA deployed its ships and Fast Response Boats to apprehend the culprits involved in smuggling of the said contraband goods.
PMSA boat intercepted the suspected boat at open sea and recovered approximately 65,000 bottles of wine as well as bear worth Rs40,000,000 in the international market, seven smugglers were also apprehended, briefed the PMSA officers.
Later the recovered liquors and apprehended smugglers were handed over to Pakistan Customs team headed by Collector Pakistan Customs Preventive Dr Fareed iqbal Qureshi at the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency Headquarters Karachi.
After receiving the recovered narcotics and smugglers, Customs Preventive has started investigation against the culprits.
