ISLAMABAD: On special instructions of the FBR regarding curbing of smuggling through airports, the Customs staff of Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad seized 1.1 kilograms of refined crystal heroin from a Saudi bound passenger.
Collector Dr Arslan Subuctageen told Customs Today that the Customs staff deputed at Benazir Bhutto International Airport was on its routine checking when they found a suspicious juice powder from the luggage of a passenger who was identified as Abdul Aziz. The seized heroin was packed tactfully in shapes of cubes.
He said that the luggage contained crystal heroin was passed through Airport Security Force (ASF) staff, but it was captured at the counter of the custom staff.
Customs staff seized the crystal Heroin consignment and arrest the accused who belongs to district Sargodha. The Collector said that accused was trying to carry heroin from Islamabad to Riyadh via Saudi airline.
The Customs staff conducted the whole operation under the supervision of Deputy Collector Naghma e Tehniat, Deputy officer Khalid Mehmood, Deputy Superintendent Fiaz and Inspector Javed Ishfaque.
Dr Arslan said that FIR have been lodged against the accused and further investigations are still underway.
