LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive team recovered huge quantity of non-duty paid/smuggled dry fruit i.e dry apricot, groundnut, tamarind almonds, red chillies, coconut worth Rs250 million.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Preventive Faiz Ahmad received credible information that huge quantity of species was dumped in Mian Farooq Cold Storage Salamatpura Daroghawala.
He immediately constituted a team under the supervision of Additional Deputy Collector Tayyaba Kayani which also included Deputy Collector Muhammad Moazzam Raza which also included Inspector Nasir Saeed, Shahid Khan, Amjad Khan, Shahid Bhatti and Superintendent Agha Qadeer Haider.
Sources told that during the raid when customs team asked for legal documents, but no one provide any relevant legal documents. After their failure customs team seized all the items and started investigations.
It is also necessary to mention here that Collector Faiz Ahmad already directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy towards smuggling, he directed that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt with iron hands.
