LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization foiled a bid to smuggle mobile phones sets of assorted brand and models 7000 sets worth of Rs8.00 million.
Sources told Customs Today, that Collector Faiz Ahmad received credible information about smuggling of mobile phones. He immediately conducted an anti-smuggling team under the supervision of Additional Collector Tayyaba Kayani, Deputy Collector Muhammad Moazzam Raza and Superintendent ASO Agha Qadeer Haider.
The ASO team in a well co-ordinated anti-smuggling operation with Motorway police intercepted cars bearing registration no: SB 882 and BA 974 which werecoming from Peshawar fully loaded with non duty paid smuggled .
The raiding team comprising Inspector Abul Hassan, Amjad Khan, Nasir Saeed searched the vehicle and recovered 7000 sets of foreign origin mobile phones. The two accused persons who were present in the vehicle failed to produce any legal documents regarding possession and transportation of mobile phones. Upon their failure customs team registered a case smugglers and further investigations are still underway till the filing of this report.
