KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive busted huge quantity of betel nuts and contraband items worth millions of rupees in successful raids.
Chairing a press conference at the Customs House on 28.8.2018 (Tuesday), Collector Preventive Dr Iftikhar Ahmed stated that the Pakistan Customs has successfully managed to save the country from heavy financial loss.
The Collector informed that the officers of the Pakistan Customs busted huge quantity of smuggled betel nuts, fabrics, cigarettes as well as Indian-origin gutka worth millions of rupees.
He said that the Customs officers conducted two different raids at Kathore and the other raid was conducted at Jodia Bazaar in which smuggled 38,660 kilograms of betel nuts worth Rs9,500,000 were recovered . Whereas huge quantity of Indian-origin gutka worth Rs7.3 million was also recovered along with other contraband items.
Collector Iftikhar Ahmed further stated that the smuggled contraband items were recovered from the unknown godowns dumped in the secret places. The raids are being conducted to arrest the culprits involved in the heinous crime.
The collector also said that the officers as well as the staff of the Pakistan Customs are committed to root out the menace of such crimes, the dedicated officers are working round-the-clock and are giving their best for the well being of the country.
The cases have been registered and the investigations are underway to apprehend the master mind involved in the case.
