PHARR: US Customs and Border Protection officers working at the port of entry here intercepted a Mexican man attempting to smuggle about 10 pounds of alleged liquid methamphetamine in aloe vera juice bottles.
The seizure happened Tuesday at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge when the 45-year-old man from Cleveland, Texas, was sent for a secondary inspection after a canine detected something inside the vehicle, according to a news release.
With the help of a canine team, CBP officers conducted a thorough examination and discovered 9.8 pounds of what officials believe is liquid methamphetamine in aloe vera bottles inside the man’s luggage. The narcotics carry an estimated street value of $204,587.
