ISLAMABAD: Customs North Region collected Rs 1,019 million under the head of Sales Tax against the assigned target of Rs 1108 million during October, 2016-17. The North Region is comprises Customs Collectorate Islamabad, Samberial, Gilgit Baltistan and Peshawar.
Sources told Customs Today that Customs Gilgit Baltistan was given sales tax target of Rs 81.5 million for October 2016-17 but it collected Rs 141.66 million. Sources said that Gigit Baltistan collected sales tax higher than the assigned target because of continuation of CPEC.
Sources said that during month of October financial year 2016-17 the performance of North Region was satisfactory regarding collection of sales tax, adding that during above said period Customs Islamabad was given target of ST collection amounting to Rs370 million against the collection of Rs292.23 million, the short fall happened due to political instability in the Capital and holidays.
Sources told that Customs Peshawar was given target of sales tax amounting Rs633 million for month of October against the collection of Rs559.67 million. Sources said that collection of sales is slightly low against to given target due to tension on Pak-Afghan border.
Customs Collectorate Samberial was given target for ST for month of October 16-17 amounting t Rs.24 million and Collectorate collected ST of Rs.25.56 million.
Chief Collector North Sarwat Tahira Habib said that all of collectorates performance is good but all the collectorates must have to make more efforts to meet the yearly revenue collection target for financial year of 2016-17.
