ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad took into possession 141 vehicles and various smuggling goods valued at Rs245million during first half of Fiscal Year 2017-18.
According to details given by Assistant Collector Majid Hussain Gaad while giving an interview to Customs Today that, during first half (July to December) FY17-18, the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad showed satisfactory performance and intercepted a number of Non-Duty-Paid and offending vehicles (vehicles used for carrying smuggling goods).
During above said period, the ASO Islamabad impounded 114 offending vehicles worth Rs122.975million while it did 23 NDP vehicles priced at Rs227.07million. So the ASO Islamabad added a handsome amount of revenue to the national exchequer by impounding offending and NDP vehicles.
Answering to a query, he said that, during first half of FY17-18, the ASO Islamabad seized a huge quantity of contraband foreign origin smuggling goods. During said period, the ASO confiscated 40,556 yards of foreign origin fabric worth Rs22.70million while it did 99,787 kilogram of various types of food stuff valued at Rs12.85million.
Majid Hussain Gadd told the correspondent that, during first half of FY17-18, the ASO Islamabad took into possession 9,095 kilogram of foreign origin smuggling tea worth Rs2.84million whereas it did 691 number of foreign origin tyres and tubes priced at Rs2.30million while ASO Islamabad impounded 1808 number of alloy rims valued at Rs0.519million.
He told CT that, during above said period, the ASO seized 17,352 kilogram of auto parts worth Rs7.39million whereas it did Rs7.39million while the ASO Islamabad confiscated 1,315 packs of Mobil oil priced at Rs0.233million. The ASO took into possession 6,190 packs of foreign origin fake cigarettes valued at Rs4.27million. He added that, during said period, the ASO impounded 324 blankets worth Rs0.102million.
The Assistant Collector said that, during first half of FY17-18, the ASO seized 2,472 number of foreign origin toys priced at Rs0.421million whereas it did miscellaneous medicines worth Rs0.0084million. The ASO confiscated 66 kilogram of foreign origin Gutka priced at Rs0.0017million. He said the ASO took into possession multiple smuggling and smuggled items priced at Rs53.18million.
Majid Hussain remarked that, under the leadership of Saeed Khan Jadoon, Collector Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad, the ASO is working with full confidence. He assured the higher authorities of displaying more brilliance during the upcoming next 3rd Quarter (January to March-2017-18).
