LAHORE: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations Lahore has seized non-customs paid tyres worth Rs 6 million, sources said on Friday.
The sources said that the tyres were to be supplied to parties in Sheikhupura and were loaded from a godown in Lahore. The sources said that the customs authorities intercepted two trucks on Band Road and seized tyres as no legal documentation was available against the consignment.
The sources said that both the trucks were loaded with 100 tyrse of large size. Each tyre was valued at Rs 60,000. The trucks were intercepted by a team led by Superintendent Malik Yasin. Inspector Zulfiqar and spoyes were also part of the team. The sources said that the customs authorities after registering a case has started investigation.
The Customs I&I sources reported that on the instructions of Director Saud Imran crackdowns against the smugglers have been intensified and every month mega cases of smuggling are being registered.
