SIALKOT: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Gujranwala Region has confiscated smuggled items worth of Rs1.5 million including duty and taxes of Rs2 million in December.
As per the details Customs Official told Customs Today that the department impounded five vehicles worth Rs7 million during the vehicles checking activities on Grand Trunk (GT) Roads during corresponding period.
Customs Intelligence had started vehicles checking under strict directions of Deputy Director Ali Zeb Khan to curb smuggling. The intelligence teams seized smuggled goods and vehicles from Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot and Sheikhupura and Sambrial Roads.
The teams impounded vehicles under Customs Act 1969 whereas the owners were failed to produce required legal documents. Official told that in the smuggled goods included cumin, Iranian Nylon Rope, Iranian and Indian Cloth and other various items worth Rs1.5.
The teams were comprised, Inspectors Tahir Rafique, Muhammad Sarwar and Syed Majid Raza, Saad Iqbal and Agha Naseem Haider.
