FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated smuggled goods worth Rs20,48,687 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs7,23,660 during road checking.
According to the details, the intelligence team following the directions of Deputy Director Riaz Hussain conducted raid to foil smuggling attempt in the region.
The Customs Intelligence intercepted a container bearing registration no.TLB-182 loaded near Gattwala Toll Plaza Lahore Road Faisalabad and recovered non duty paid food processor, Deuron brand consisting of juicer and others items.
The officials asked driver Mohsin Raza son of Ghulam Raza to show documents regarding legal import of the items on which he produced a Goods Declaration No KAPW-HC- 109955 filed by M/s Abdullah Trading 179-B Iqbal Avenue Housing Society showing clearance of 640-Cartons of electric blender grinder juicer.
The officials found discrepancies while examining the documents and recovered goods; therefore, they confiscated items under Section 18, 32 of the Customs Act, 1969 read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act, 1969.
The intelligence officers, including Deputy Director Riaz Hussain, Superintendent Zahid Raza Bukhari, Senior Intelligence Officer Tahir Iqbal, Intelligence Officers Naseer Ahmed Muhammad Saleem, Mansoor Nasir, and Sepoys Ajamal Hussain and Muhammad Musaddiq Ahmad participated in the raids. However, seizure reports have been submitted to adjudication department for further legal action.
