SIALKOT: Gujranwala Customs Intelligence and Investigation teams has impounded two Mazda Truck and confiscated foreign origin tryes along with tubes and ladies cloth worth Rs20 million at Grand Trunk (GT) Road.
As per the detail, under the strict directions of Deputy Director Ali Zeb Khan the Assistant Director Itrat Hussain ordered Superintendent Tahir Rafique to constitute teams to curb smuggling.
However in compliance of superintendent instructions the Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Sarwar constituted a team under the supervision of Inspectors Syed Majid Rsza. The said Inspectors along with his team members constables Sajid Raza, Arshad and Mubashir, started checking of vehicles on said road.
During the checking of vehicle the team intercepted the truck bearing registration number LEI-14A-2874 and recovered 52 foreign origin tyres and tubes.
Meanwhile the team also impounded another Mazda Shahzore bearing registration number RH-08-1100 and during the search recovered 15 bundle of foreign origin cloth and 90 roles of cotton.
The team asked drivers Shakeel and Ghulam Rasool about customs-duty duty paid documents of recovered items but they were failed to produce said documents and they told the team the recovered items were loaded from Truck Stand Lahore.
The teams confiscated the items and impounded the trucks because trucks were also plying on road without payment of custom duty. Official said that value of seized items is more than Rs20 million. The teams shifted confiscated items with impounded trucks in the compound of Department office. The team has registered the cases under sections 157/158 of Customs laws and Customs Act.
