ISLAMABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has sent a contravention report to Customs Adjudication against the M/s Pak Mobile Limited, Islamabad for allegedly evading Rs 3.7 million duty/taxes on import of paper scratch cards by claiming lower assessment value.
According to the details, M/s Pak Mobile Limited Islamabad imported a consignment of “paper scratch card” from Dubai with goods declaration No RPAF-15284 dated April 28, 2016 and cleared the same at lower value for assessment of duty/taxes than the actual invoice value.
On the scrutiny of the GD, it transpired that the importer had declared the value $ 0.00205 per scratch card. The assessing officer accepted the declared value of $0.00205 per scratch card, where as the commercial invoice uploaded by the importer in support of his declaration in WeBoc system showed that actual unit price of a scratch card as $0.0205 and total value of consignment as $136,280.
The assessment was wrongly done at $0.00205 per card, hence actual duty/ taxes payable were Rs 4.136 million instead of Rs 403, 518.
The sources told Customs Today that the importer short paid duty /taxes to the tune of Rs 3.732 million, accordingly contravention report has been framed and sent for adjudication.
