FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized Indian origin grey fabrics during a crackdown here.
Sources told Customs Today that Additional Collector Azmat Tahira received information about some smuggling attempts. She formed a customs team comprising Deputy Director Riaz Hussain Superintendent Muhammad Rafique, Muhammad Saleem, Naseer Ahmed, Mansoor Nasir, Masood Iqbal, Muhammad Iqbal.
The customs team started checking of vehicles. During checking of a godown which was located at truck adda of M/s Pak International Goods Transport Company, opposite Niab Gate Jhang Road , the customs team recovered Indian origin grey cloth.
The suspect, who was identified as Muhammad Zafar Munshi provided a bilty no. 8385. That bilty shows booking of 20 bundles readymade garments whereas on physical checking grey fabrics was recovered. The smuggled cloth have market value of Rs9,00,000 involving customs duty and taxes to the tune of Rs4,65,552.
The customs team seized the cloth and sent the report to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
