RAWALPINDI: The Supreme Court Friday suspended non-bailable arrest warrant against model Ayyan Ali in Customs inspector murder case.
Just within an hour of filing the plea, Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali formed a two-member bench headed by Justice Ijaz Afzal to hear the case.
The apex court also issued notices to Interior Secretary and Station House Officer of the police station concerned among other parties in the murder case.
Gulfam Butt, magistrate of a court in Rawalpindi, had issued non-bailable arrest warrant of the model on Thursday after she did not appear for a hearing of the murder case.
Customs Inspector Ijaz Chaudhry, who was in-charge of the team that seized the cash form Ayyan Ali and submitted in the State Bank, died in Benazir Bhutto Hospital after he was shot in the leg. The late Customs official’s wife pleaded in a court that he was murdered to ‘protect’ Ali in the money-laundering case.
Ali was arrested in March 2015 at an airport in Islamabad as she tried to smuggle $506,800 in cash to United Arab Emirates.
