ISLAMABAD: The Customs Collectorate Islamabad impounded 183 vehicles worth Rs241.283million during eight months (July to February) Financial Year2016-17.
According to Assistant Collector Majid Hussain Gaad, During said period, the ASO impounded 70 Non-Duty Paid vehicles valued Rs122.633million whereas it seized 113 offending vehicles priced Rs118.65million.
The Customs Car Cell and ASO collected Rs.222.72million revenue by impounding 163 vehicles during the first seven months (July to January FY 16-17) The Customs Car Cell impounded 63 Non-Duty Paid vehicles worth Rs114.37million during said period.
The ASO seized 49 offending vehicles and 51 Non-Duty Paid vehicles during five months of Financial Year from 1st July to November 2016-17. The said 100 vehicles seized value Rs141.6 million.
He added that the performance of the ASO and Car Cell of Preventive Department was satisfactory during the first four and a half months of current Financial Year 2016-17.
During the first five months of FY2016-17, the car cell seized 51 Non-Duty paid vehicles.
He said the trend of smuggling in the buses is more than other vehicles. It may be recalled that during July 2016-17 to November 2016-17, the ASO impounded 49 offending vehicles undervalued Rs55.55million. It may be remembered that impounding of offending vehicles is very important to discourage the smuggling trends as they are playing a central role in promoting smuggling activities in the country.
He said the car cell is working very efficiently under the supervision of Collector Dr. Arslan who was given an appreciation call on showing a good performance after the completion of first eight months of Financial Year 2016-17.
