LAHORE: The Customs Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) is being run without director for the last 24 days as the director of the directorate Saud Imran has been selected for National Management Course.
The director went on to attend the course on August 1 and since then the directorate is working without its director.
Currently, the directorate is being looked after by Additional Director Mona Aslam who has recently been posted to the directorate from the Directorrate of Training while Deputy Director Salman Afzal is coordinating with the additional director. He has been working for the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation for quite sometimes and has a handful experience in related matters.
On the other hand, sources told Customs Today that the post of director of customs Lahore has great importance and many of the customs officers are trying for the slot.
However, the sources said that Collector of Appeal Dr Asif Mehmood Jah, Collector Faisalabad Ch Zufiqar Director Valuation Mubashar Baig, Post Clarence Audit Director Rauf Ahmad and Multan Collector of Customs Sarfraz Warriach are being considered for the post and one of these officers who have quite a good experience in related matters may be appointed as the director of the directorate.
Currently, the Directorrate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I)Lahore has its jurisdiction to exercise on Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan and Faisalabad which means half of the Punjab including Multan, Faisalabad, Lahore and Gujranwala will be looked after by director Intelligence and Investigation Lahore.
