HYDERABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigations Hyderabad impounded 3,314 crates of non-duty-paid Rani Juices during an operation. The market value of the seized items is Rs4million involving duties and taxes of Rs909594 lakh in Hyderabad.
Deputy Director Haroon Waqar Malik received a tip-off regarding the transportation of smuggled items via Bypass Hyderabad. Haroon Waqar immediately constituted a team comprising intelligence officials Sepoys Moin Ahmed Khan, Ghayas Ahmed Shah, Aslam Chohan, Musarat Shah, Muhammad Imran, Noshad Khan, Azam Ali Chandio and Driver Janib Kurb.
The FIU team set up a picket at Bypass Hatri station and started searching the vehicles. The team intercepted an offending public transport vehicle with registration No: GLTD-4177 and recovered 3,314 crates of foreign origin non–duty-paid Rani Juices. The goods were being transported into Pakistan.
The FIU team asked the driver of the offending vehicle for providing the legal documents regarding the possession and transportation of the items but he failed to do so. So the FIU confiscated the non-duty-paid items and registered a case of smuggling against the accused.
The FIU team deposited the seized items into the customs warehouse and forwarded the case to the customs adjudication for further proceeding.
