LAHORE: Customs Preventive team deputed at Allama Iqbal International Airport foiled an attempt to smuggle mobile phones and some other items including commercial cameras.
Sources told Customs Today that customs team intercepted a passenger Touqeer Ali who was travelling from Dubai to Pakistan and recovered 85 costly mobile phones, 9 studio commercial cameras and other items including 190 memory cards of that cameras from his possession. Customs team confiscated the recovered goods and arrested the accused. Worth of the recovered goods is more than Rs 5 million in local market.
It is pertinent to mention here that the accused Touqeer Ahmad was using wheel chair to flee from airport and to avoid any search by the customs and other law enforcement agencies.
On other hand on Tuesday the Customs officials have confiscated five alcohol bottles from passengers travelling via different flights during arrived Allama Iqbal International Airport.
Customs team confiscated all the recovered alcohol bottles and has started investigation.
It is common practice that passengers coming from European countries carries bottles of alcohol with them but many times they left that in premises of airport to avoid from being arrest.
