MUSCAT: The personnel of the Customs department at Muscat International Airport foiled an attempt by two Omanis to smuggle drugs into the country. They were coming from a European country with 10,154 tablets of Tramadol and DNT.
The drugs were found in the suitcases of the accused.
Similarly, an Asian national was arrested at Muscat International Airport as he tried to smuggle in 243 tablets of Clonazepam, which is allowed in the Sultanate only for medical use as it is harmful for health.
Another national was arrested for smuggling 16 capsules of methadone and 37 tablets of Clonazepam. All the accused have been referred to the Public Prosecution for trial.
Two other people were arrested in the wilayat of Amerat by the anti-drug team of the ROP for drug trafficking. Bags of hashish, heroin and crystal meth were seized from them.
In another case, six drug addicts were arrested in the wilayat of Buraimi.
