KARACHI: Customs Exports has collected Rs 2.2 million during first week of September. The department also issued show cause notices to four companies namely M/s Rehan international Karachi, M/s Ghafoor Textile and Export Karachi , M/s Hunza Garments Karachi and M/s Arman Knitwear to recover evaded taxes.
According to details, M/s Rehan International Karachi used wrong (PCT) headings to get a consignment of surgical items cleared during the second week of August and caused a loss of Rs 3.26 million to the national exchequer.
During scrutiny of import data, the Customs Exports found that the company used wrong PCT heading and issued a show-cause notice no: 203/2017 to recover the evaded amount of tax and duty.
Meanwhile, the Customs Exports unearthed another tax evasion by M/s Ghafoor Textile and Export Karachi who cleared a consignment of cotton fabric, silk fabric and other goods.The customs authorities, after careful investigations, issued a show cause notice 204/2017 to the company and asked them to deposit the evaded tax amount within fortnight.
While M/s Hunza Garments Karachi also used wrong (PCT) headings to get a consignment of different ladies items which were cleared in last week of August and caused a loss of Rs 1.98 million to the national exchequer. The Customs Exports has issued show cause notice and letter to M/s Arman Knitwear to submit the leather consignment documents which were cleared cleared during the last week of July.
