Customs examines 725 containers in 3 days at KICT

KARACHI: The Pakistan Customs has examined record 725 containers in just three days from Sunday to Tuesday at Karachi International Containers Terminal (KICT).
The KICT Assistant Collector Examination Usman Tariq, while talking to Customs Today lauded the efforts of customs officials on clearing 702 containers in three days at international terminal.
He said that the Pakistan Customs has examined 259 on Sunday, 302 on Monday and 164 containers on Tuesday, including 270 of imports and 32 of exports in three days.
He further said that customs has succeeded in this remarkable effort with only 13 examining officials, adding that only 30 containers are in pending and the examination of those containers would be completed after grounding the containers.
Commenting on the KICT operations, Usman Tariq said that the terminal authorities are responsible for grounding and arranging of containers for examination at terminal, however, delay in grounding the containers for examination has been the major cause of late releasing of containers.
