KARACHI: The customs intelligence detected a mis-declaration on bed-sheets and curtains’ consignments.
The customs intelligence authorities, on a tip-off, investigated some consignments and found that the importer was trying to evade tax by showing less cost of its imports.
On the direction of Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigation Director I&I Samina Taslim Zehra conducted a raid.
The team found that the Diamond Company was mis-declaring its consignment of bed-sheets and curtains therefore it sealed the consignment.
The company showed the consignment as complete polyester while the examination report resulted in cotton and blended fabrics.
The customs authorities saved a loss to the national exchequer by taking a timely action.
About 845,013 kilogram shipment was showed as 86 million rupees while the actual worth of the shipment was 191 million rupees, so the team sealed the consignment and lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against the company.
